It’s time to face your nightmares once again.
Frogwares has just announced that its HP Lovecraft inspired, story-rich horror game The Sinking City is headed to PlayStation 5 tomorrow.
A PlayStation 5 gameplay video you can check out below shows off some of the graphical improvements that players can look forward to. Those improvements include 4K resolution, 60 FPS, improved graphical fidelity, improved load times, DualSense controller features and more.
There will also be a few additional quests included as part of the Merciful Madness DLC.
We reviewed The Sinking City back when it first released in 2019 and while we weren’t completely blown away we did say, “…the city itself, with its oddball inhabitants and twisted tales, is the perfect stomping ground for a supernaturally-inclined detective.”
Players can also expect a price drop for the PS5 version. The standard version will be available for $49.99 and $64.99 for the Deluxe Edition. PS Plus Subscribers will receive an additional 30% off during the first two weeks after launch. Players that purchase the PS5 version of the game will receive a digital artbook at a later date.
However, due to a difference in publishers, players who own the PS4 version of the game will not be eligible for a free upgrade. A statement on Frogwares’ blog explains that it’s “not possible at the moment” and “the situation is being handled legally”. It’s possible that a free upgrade will become available at a later date, but don’t hold your breath.
Look out for The Sinking City when it releases on PlayStation 5 tomorrow, February 19th.
