Crash Bandicoot: On the Run Is Dashing Onto Mobiles This March

Mobile runner Crash Bandicoot: On the Run is coming this March. Which, if we’re honest, is a little disappointing.

It’s not because we’re not looking forward to the game; we are. But in the spirit of “misheard lyrics’ we read the press release as Crash Bandicoot Has the Runs. We had a whole bunch of “Crash Bandipoop” jokes lined up that are never going to see the light of day. Oh well. Being able to fit a new Crash Bandicoot in your pocket (a normal-sized pocket, Nintendo Switch) is still something to celebrate.

What’s also interesting is, going by the Google Store description, that On the Run doesn’t feature in-app purchases, though it does sport adverts. So, hopefully, the game won’t have been designed to milk the wallets of Crash fans and will instead offer a genuine, entertaining challenge.

It draws inspiration from the entire Crash Bandicoot series and tasks you with dodging and jumping while Crash charges ever onwards. There are various pickups to aid your progress, such as Aku Aku masks that will let you take a hit with no damage. It also sports a suitably upbeat soundtrack, so if you fail miserably at least you’ll have a musical accompaniment.

Oddly, the game has been available in Malaysia since last April, possibly as a ‘soft launch’ but now the rest of the world can get their hands on Crash Bandicoot: On the Run when the game hits Android and iOS this this March 25th. Let’s hope Crash’s high-speed shenanigans don’t result in any skid-marks.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
