Point-and-click PC adventure Chronicle of Innsmouth: Mountains of Madness is nearly here.
Arriving late March, Mountains of Madness draws inspiration from the works of H.P. Lovecraft, not just the titular novelette. The second in the Chronicle of Innsmouth series, you’re primarily cast as investigator Lone Carter, an investigator who’s in danger of losing his mind. We’d think that any Lovecraftian horror would be took busy giggling at a name like ‘Lone Carter’ to terrorise the poor soul, but there you go.
The game has been intentionally designed to resemble Lucasarts’ point-and-click adventures and, taking place across multiple locations, puts you in the shoes of two additional characters. The first is Abdul Alhazred, the author of The Necronomicon the Cthulhu Mythos’s sinister tome. The second is.. H.P. Lovecraft?
Yes, that Lovecraft, the author of the Cthulhu Mythos himself. We wonder how the game will handle Lovecraft’s racism. Will it sweep it under the carpet or, and this is the outside bet, will we witness his distaste for anyone with a different skin tone? Let’s hope nobody asks him about his cat.
Chronicle of Innsmouth: Mountains of Madness will arrive on Steam this March 23rd. You can wishlist it on the Steam Store right now.
