Serious Sam 2

Fifteen Years Later, Serious Sam 2 Has Got a New Update

Typical, you wait for one Serious Sam announcement and two come along at once.

However, while it’s not all that surprising that Croteam chose to give Serious Sam 4 mod support, this chunk of Serious Sam news is a little more unexpected. Fifteen years after Serious Sam 2 was released, a new update has been released for the PC version of the game. But, instead of just fixing a few bugs, this patch adds a whole bunch of new content, including:

  • A new weapon, the BeamGun
  • Twelve new multiplayer maps
  • Dual wielding for all weapons
  • An upscaled hud
  • Rocket jumping

You can see the full list of changes here, on the Serious Sam 2 Steam store page which does also include a lot of bugfixing as well. But getting new content this long after release rarely happens, especially when a game has received sequels in the interim.

Even better, if you want to get your hands on Serious Sam 2, it’s available at the bargainous price of £1.39. If you’ve never played a Serious Sam game before, you’re in for a treat – aside from sporting some colossal bosses, the series flings waves and waves of daft foes at you, putting even the original Doom to shame. What have you go to lose?
