Cyberpunk horror Observer now has ray tracing on the Xbox Series S/X.
Why is this a big deal? Because, as we pointed out, Observer: System Redux – to give the game’s next gen incarnation its full name – looked better on the PS5 than the Xbox Series S/X. The reason was that ray-tracing was absent from the Series S/X. Ray tracing is a way of delivering realistic lighting effects and, without it, the PS5 version of the game had a visual edge.
But now, the game’s official Twitter account has revealed that the latest patch, live now, adds ray tracing to the Xbox Series S/X version. The patch also features a few other tweaks, including a dynamic resolution option, improved level streaming and so on.
Observer: System Redux was developed by Bloober Team, who went on to create The Blair Witch and Medium, and are currently working on another horror IP which we’re hoping against hope is Silent Hill. But for now, if you’re looking to dive back into Observer, or you’ve never experienced the game, now’s the time to plug in.
