Super Bomberman R

Super Bomberman R Online is Exploding Onto Consoles and PC

Super Bomberman R Online, once a Google Stadia exclusive, is coming to consoles and PC.

Bomberman, Bomberman, Bomberman; if ever there was a game that could ruin friendships, it’s Bomberman. While the series does, technically, have a single-player Bomber VS Monsters mode, it’s the multiplayer mode that’s proved really popular. As one of several bomb-dropping characters you roam around a single screen trying to murder your enemies all the while avoiding the explosions from their bomb blasts.

Now it’s a battle royale, courtesy of Konami’s Super Bomberman R Online. True, there are other game modes as well but R Online’s big standout is being able to bomb it out with up to 64 other players in Battle 64 mode. No longer a Stadia exclusive, Super Bomberman R Online is coming to PC, Xbox, Playstation and Switch, the latter giving you the chance to bomb on the go.

Sounds good? It gets better. The base game will be free, but you can pay £8.99 for an upgraded version that includes new character skins, bomb skins (giving your explosions a distinct look) and characters from other Konami characters; you know, so the company can pretend they’re actually doing something with Silent Hill.

The one thing we don’t know is whether there’ll be couch play. Stadia was online focused, for obvious reasons, but consoles can sport offline play and we’re eager to find out whether the new version of Super Bomberman R Online will let us blow our ‘friends’ to smithereens while staring them in the eye.

There’s no definite release date but Konami have said that Super Bomberman R Online is coming soon.
