After over a three month wait, PS5 owners can finally play a version of Yakuza: Like a Dragon that makes more use of the power of their next-gen consoles.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is now available on PS5, with a free upgrade path for those who have previously bought the game on PS4. On PS5, players can expect sharper, more detailed visuals, a smoother framerate, and faster loading times. Some will be happy to hear that Brazilian, Portuguese and Russian subtitles have also been added.

Three versions of Yakuza: Like a Dragon are available. The standard edition has an RRP of £54.99 and is available both physically and digitally. Hero and Legendary Hero Editions are available digitally only, with RRPs of £64.99 and £74.99 respectively. The Hero Edition includes the full in-game job set as well as the Management Mode set, while the Legendary Hero Edition also includes the full in-game crafting set, karaoke set, Ultimate Costume set, and stat boost set.

We reviewed Yakuza: Like a Dragon upon its original launch last November, stating that it’s “a game full of drama, thrilling battles, and a huge amount of side content, all smothered with an ample amount of humour.” It replaces the series’ usual real-time battles with turn-based ones instead and features a new protagonist, but it’s a Yakuza game through and through. Needless to say, if you have a PS5 and are looking for something meaty to play, it’s well worth a look.

Those who already own Yakuza: Like a Dragon on PS4 can visit the PlayStation store to upgrade to the PS5 version for free. And those upgrading or buying the game can also claim the Legends Costume set DLC for free for a limited time. Including eight costumes that pay homage to fan-favourite characters such as Goro Majima and Kazuma Kiryu, the Legends Costume set DLC will be available to download without any charge until 2nd April.
