You’re using sniper rifles as your main weapon in Outriders, and your friend has just picked up an excellent one. Can you trade them for it? Here’s what you need to know.
Square Enix’s Outriders, a loot-filled shooter RPG, sees you explore the planet of Enoch, encountering all kinds of dangerous enemies as you do so. Your equipment is at the centre of the experience, and thankfully, you’re rewarded with new weapons and armour constantly. But what if you get something your friend wants, or vice versa? Can you trade items or drop items for friends in Outriders?
Unfortunately, the answer is no. Trading is not a part of Outriders, and it seems that was a very purposeful decision from the game creators. In an interview with Wccftech in February 2021, lead game designer Piotr Nowakowski was asked if trading would be a part of the game. His answer? “Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. That’s not something we want.”
Well, you can’t get much clearer than that.
So if you were hoping to be able to drop items for friends or trade with them in some way in Outriders, you’re out of luck. Thankfully, it’s not too big of a deal. Loot drops so frequently in Outriders that you’re never more than a few minutes away from something good. If your friend has an item you’re dying to have in your equipment, just hold on – you’ll likely get something better soon enough.
Whether trading is something that will be added to Outriders later on remains to be seen – but Nowakowski’s opinion on the topic sounds pretty final to us.
