Dead by Daylight: Best Perk Builds for Élodie Rakoto

Dead by Daylight Elodie

Élodie Rakoto from Dead by Daylight has the weirdest job ever – Occult Investigator.

We’re wondering who pays her to do that job. Is it the occult that pays her? “Thank you for investigating us, here’s some cash.” Or is there a company that she works for her that gives you the big bucks for poking around? Either way, she’s got some interesting perks for players to work with that totally reflect her career choice and we’ve put together a couple of builds that utilise those perks.

First, here’s her three perks:

Appraisal

  • Start the trial with 3 tokens.
  • When a chest has already been opened, consume 1 token to rummage through it for an item.
  • Rummage through chests 40/60/80% faster.

Deception

  • Interact with a locker while holding the sprint button to trigger a loud noise notification for the killer at your location instead of entering the locker.
  • You will not leave any scratch marks for the next 3 seconds.
  • Deception can only be triggered once every 60/50/40 seconds.

Power Struggle

  • While being carried by the killer, reaching 35/30/25% wiggling progression activates power struggle.
  • You can drop a standing pallet to stun the killer and escape their grasp.

And here are three combos that we think best use Élodie Rakoto’s perks. Try them out if you want to get the most out of playing her.

The “Aw, You Shouldn’t Have” Combo

  • Appraisal (Élodie Rakoto Perk)
    • Start the trial with 3 tokens.
    • When a chest has already been opened, consume 1 token to rummage through it for an item.
    • Rummage through chests 40/60/80% faster.
  • Pharmacy (Quentin Smith Perk)
    • Unlocking chests is 40/60/80% faster
    • Unlocking your first chest guarantees an emergency med-kit.
    • Pharmacy reduces the distance at which unlocking noises can be heard by 8 metres.
  • Ace in the Hole (Ace Visconti Perk)
    • When retrieving an item from a chest, there is a chance an add-on will be attached to it.
    • 100% change for an add-on of very rare rarity or lower.
    • 10/25/50% chance for a second add-on of uncommon rarity or lower.
    • Ace in the Hole allows you to keep any add-ons your item has equipped upon escaping.
  • Plunderer’s Instinct (General Perk)
    • The auras of closed chests and dropped items throughout the trail grounds are revealed to you within 16/24/32 metres.
    • Grants considerably better chance at finding an item of a higher rarity from chests.

We put together this build for those survivors that love grabbing chests and getting cool items out of them. Or for those of you that didn’t bring in self-care and are desperate for a med-kit because your teammates won’t heal you. Élodie’s Appraisal perk is just okay in our opinion but if you combine it with these other chest-related perks you can find some really good stuff. Plunderer’s Instinct is included to help you find chests on the map easier. Ace in the Hole will guarantee you get a good item and, naturally, Pharmacy will get you that med-kit you desperately need. Appraisal just wraps it all together and makes it faster and quieter to rummage.

The “Betcha Can’t Catch Me” Combo

  • Deception (Élodie Rakoto Perk)
    • Interact with a locker while holding the sprint button to trigger a loud noise notification for the killer at your location instead of entering the locker.
    • You will not leave any scratch marks for the next 3 seconds.
    • Deception can only be triggered once every 60/50/40 seconds.
  • Quick and Quiet  (Meg Thomas Perk)
    • Loud noise notifications for rushing to vault windows or to enter or exit lockers are completely silent.
    • Quiet and Quiet has a cool-down of 30/25/20 seconds.
  • Head On (Jane Romero Perk)
    • When standing in a locker for 3 seconds, Head On activates.
    • When performing a rushed action to leave a locker, stun the killer for 3 seconds if they are within range.
    • Head on causes the exhausted status effect for 60/50/40 seconds.
    • Head On cannot be used when exhausted when or when you have accrued stillness crows.
  • Red Herring (Zarina Kassir Perk)
    • After repairing a generator for at least 3 seconds its aura is highlighted to you in yellow.
    • The generator stays highlighted until it is either fully repaired, you start repairing another generator or you enter a locker.
    • Entering a locker will trigger a loud noise notification for the killer at the highlighted generators location.

This Dead by Daylight build is great for either trolling the killer or getting away from them. Deception is definitely a perk we’ve seen used a lot recently and it’s really good for throwing killers off a survivor’s tracks. Combine with the Quick and Quiet/Head On combo and you might just get away with your life. Red Herring is here to round out this build and give you a way to try and get the killer to go somewhere else and leave you the heck alone.

The “Get Your Hands Off of Me” Combo

  • Power Struggle (Élodie Rakoto)
    • While being carried by the killer, reaching 35/30/25% wiggling progression activates power struggle.
    • You can drop a nearby standing pallet to stun the killer and escape their grasp.
  • Boil Over (Kate Denson Perk)
    • While being carried by a killer your struggle effects from wiggling, causing the killer to strafe sideways, are increased by 25/50/75%
    • You obscure the killer’s ability to read the auras of hooks within 10/12/14 metres of your pick-up location.
  • Decisive Strike (Laurie Strode Perk)
    • After being unhooked or unhooking yourself, Decisive Strike activates for the next 40/50/60 seconds.
    • When being grabbed or picked up by a killer, succeed a skill check to automatically escape their grasp, stunning them for 5 seconds.
    • Successfully stunning the killer will disable Decisive Strike for the remainder of the trail and result in you becoming the obsession.
    • When Decisive Strike is active, the following interactions with it deactivate it: Repairing a generator, Healing yourself or other survivors, Cleansing a totem, Sabotaging a hook, Unhooking other survivors
  • Flip-Flop (Ash J. Williams Perk)
    • While in the dying state, 50% of your recovery progression is converted into wiggling progression, up to a maximum of 40/45/50% once you are picked up by the killer.

This build is great for those survivors who hate being picked up by the killer. Power Struggle is definitely a circumstantial perk – you have to be far away from a hook and have the killer walk under a pallet – but when it works it is oh-so-satisfying. Combining it with Flip-Flop is basically a no-brainer because if the killer leaves you on the ground, you’ve got a free activation of your Power Struggle. Then Decisive Strike is there to give you an extra shot at life. Boil Over is just annoying perk that makes the killer’s trip the hook that much more difficult.
