Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Arrives on PC and Switch This July

YS IX Monstrum Nox 2

After arriving on the Playstation 4, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is now set for a Nintendo Switch and PC release.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox is, despite the title, not the ninth entry in the Ys series; instead, this action RPG is the fifteenth entry in a series that has been running since the late 80s. We reviewed the Playstation 4 version when it hit the west this February, calling it “a game that’s simply a joy to throw yourself into”.

We also praised the traversal system, a new feature that allows characters to climb, glide and more, letting you uncover various hidden secrets and giving you more of a reason to retrace your steps. Now it’s arriving on the PC and Nintendo Switch, both as a regular edition and, on the Switch, a special “Pact” edition with a soundtrack, art card collection and more. We suspect there’s no PC pact edition because PC gaming has heavily shifted towards digital sales. 98% of PC game sales are digital according to a GamesIndustry.biz survey.

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox will hit the Nintendo Switch July 6th in North America, July 9th in Europe and July 16th in Oceania. The PC version will arrive July 6th in all regions, available from the Steam Store.  If you want to see the game in action, check out the trailer below.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
