Back 4 Blood, the co-op zombie shooter that’s Left 4 Dead 3 in all but name, has a new trailer.
The trailer shows the game in action, as you might expect, but it also shines a light on the card system. Aside from just shooting zombies in the face, then running when a giant monster rounds the corner, you can use cards to bolster your chances. That’s the good news.
The bad news is that the game’s AI director, in charge of keeping you on your toes, can do the same. So, as explained in the trailer, it might draw a card which introduces armour-clad zombies. But, if you’ve got the extra ammo card, you can use it to lessen the cost of blasting your bullet-resistant foes.
Maybe you’re a fan of fire, in which case you can use a card that recovers health every time you burn a zombie, sorry, a “ridden”. You don’t have to engage with the card system, picking each one out individually, you can let the game pick out a set for you. But it’s a neat way of assuring that, on top of the AI director, no two matches are the same.
We took a look at Back 4 Blood last year, when it was originally pencilled in for a June release, and were pretty impressed. Unfortunately, it’s now been delayed until October but there should be an open beta some time this summer.
You can check out the trailer here, and get your gore-caked hands on Back 4 Blood when it launches on Xbox, PC and Playstation this October 12th.
