Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle is an Upcoming Prequel to Daymare: 1998

Daymare 1994: Sandcastle

Remember survival horror game Daymare: 1998? It’s getting a prequel in the shape of Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle.

We certainly remember Daymare: 1998. It’s not that we were particularly taken with it; in our review we said, “The unevenness of the overall package – though reflected in the game’s budget price – makes it very much a love/hate affair.”

No, what made Daymare: 1998 so notable was that it was originally a Resident Evil 2 fan remake. But when Capcom asked them to stop working on it (presumably because it already had Resident Evil 2 Remake in the works), it morphed into something else entirely. Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle doesn’t seem to have quite the same direct inspiration but it’s a chance for Invader Studio to learn from Daymare: 1998 and create something that really stands out.

The game will cast you as H.A.D.E.S. agent Dalila Reyes, part of an organisation that’s sent in to clean up when experiments go badly wrong. Aside from shooting monsters and solving environmental puzzles, Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle will feature enemies who, just when you think they’re dead, morph into new forms. We’re hoping that, at the very least, you have the option to stamp their heads into a pulp before that happens.

There’s no set release date for Daymare: 1994 Sandcastle, but it will be arriving on PC and consoles in 2022. You can wishlist it on Steam right now.

He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
