Fancy some demon-murdering 2D slash-em-up action? GetsuFumaDen is now available through Steam Early Access.
A sequel of sorts to NES game Getsu Fūma Den, GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon (to give it its full title) is Konami’s latest contribution to the side-scrolling slash-em-up genre. No, there’s not so much as a sniff of a new Castlevania, but between Konami and indie studio GuruGuru (both of whom have a hand in the development of GetsuFumaDen) you can at least get a little 2D monster-slaughter under your belt.
The Steam Early Access version boasts eight striking stages, each styled around traditional Japanese art. The story is that, after 1,000 years of piece, the seal to the gates of hell has been ripped open and evil has poured into the land. You’d think someone would have nailed some boards over it, but apparently not. It’s your job to employ a range of weaponry and some carefully timed combat moves to sort the whole mess out.
We’ve yet to get our hands on it, but the Steam reviews of GetsuFumaDen’s have been pretty positive, despite its Early Access state. It certainly seems to be more of a complete product than some Early Access titles.
GetsuFumaDen: Undying Moon is available through Steam Early Access right now. There’s no confirmed date for the final version, though it will eventually be arriving on Nintendo Switch as well as PC.
