Mass Effect Legendary Edition Gets an Elcor-Sized 1.02 Patch

Mass Effect Legendary Edition

It’s been all of four days since Mass Effect Legendary Edition launched and we’re already on the second of two 10GB+ patches.

However, for those playing on the Xbox Series X, this latest patch is all but essential. As the patch notes explain, Patch 1.02 has:

“Fixed the main issue where the launcher would crash or become unresponsive on Xbox Series X when using a wireless headset.” However, plugging a wireless headset in during the game can potentially still crash the game, and that’s something Bioware and EA are working on.

The patch contains several less dramatic fixes, details of which can be found on the official update page. But what also stands out is that this patch tweaks Mass Effect 2’s visuals, improving lighting, offering “improved lighting and shadows in some cinematics”. We’re definitely curious to see how noticeable these changes are, particularly since the lighting in the comparison trailer seemed a little off.

It’s a big download, reportedly coming in at 11GB, several times bigger than Mass Effect 3’s Extended Cut DLC which added extra content to the trilogy’s original ending. The patch should be available to download across all platforms as of right now.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
