Saints Row: The Third Remastered is getting a free next-gen makeover this May.
It won’t be as drastic as the initial remaster that, amongst other things, gave the game’s characters a surprise face-lift. Reviewing the improved incarnation of this daft open-world game, we concluded that “One of the most enjoyable open-world games ever made.. looks and plays better then ever.”
This next-gen update should still give Saints Row: The Third a kick in the pants, even if the actual results will depend on which console you own. But if you own an Xbox Series S/X it looks like there’s a catch. The upgrade will make the Playstation 5 version run at 60FPS in 4K mode, which is great. Xbox Series S/X owners, however, will have to choose between 60FPS in 1080p or 30FPS in 4K mode.
Why the discrepancy? The Saints Row website doesn’t offer an explanation and it could, conceivably, be an error on the site. But it looks like Xbox Series S/X owners won’t get quite the same performance out of Saints Row: The Third Remastered that PS5 owners will. No doubt this’ll lead to a few heated online debates.
Saints Row: The Third Remastered’s next-gen update will arrive on the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series S/X this May 25th.
