Chernobylite is Coming to PC on 28th July

Get ready to dive deep into Chernobyl’s exclusion zone.

Atmospheric horror game Chernobylite looks to be something rather special. Perhaps it’s because it fuses reality with science fiction; it’s set in the very real Chernobyl exclusion but features some (hopefully) very not-real horrors. Either way, it looks set to scare players when it launches later this summer.

It’s being developed by The Farm 51 and published by All In! Games, and will be coming to PC via Steam and Epic Game Store on 28th July this year. Console players don’t worry; a PS4 and Xbox One release will be following later this summer.

Whether you’ve a morbid curiosity about Pripyat and the rest of Chernobyl’s exclusion zone, or whether you just really love a survival horror game, Chernobylite looks worth keeping your eye on. Its environments promise to be ‘hyper-realistic’; 3D scan technology has been used to recreate the exclusion zone in careful detail. And judging by the trailer, it’s paid off.

You’ll play as Igor, an ex-employee of Chernobyl Power Plant whose fiancee went missing in Pripyat some 30 years prior. But tracking her down won’t be easy. If it’s not the hostile military presence in the area getting in your way, it’ll be the eerie supernatural creatures. Needless to say, stealth will play a vital role, as will open armed combat.

There’s an element of base building to Chernobylite, too. You can construct your own safe zone, from which you’ll start out your excursions every day. From there you’ll also be able to craft new weapons and equipment, or modify what you already have, to help you on your way.

We’re looking forward to getting our hands on Chernobylite, and we don’t have much longer to wait. It’ll be landing on PC via Steam, GOG and Epic Games Store on 28th July, and PS4 and Xbox One versions will follow soon after.
