Cyberpunk 2077 is Back on the PlayStation Store

Cyberpunk 2077 Keanu Reeves (1)

After being pulled six months ago, futuristic action-RPG Cyberpunk 2077 is back on the PlayStation Store.

Sony original removed the game from their digital storefront after complaints of major performance issues (including a host of bugs and glitches) on the vanilla Playstation 4. Similar bugs were present on the Xbox One version and, though Microsoft offered unconditional refunds, it remained on the Xbox store.

So, for six months, if you wanted to get your hands on the PlayStation version of Cyberpunk 2077, no matter whether you own a PS4, PS4 Pro or PS5, you had to purchase the physical version. But now, the game is back on the PlayStation Store,  priced at £39.99 (fifteen pounds cheaper than its original launch price). So should you take the plunge?

Not if you own a PlayStation 4, according to Sony. As was reported last week, when the news first broke, Sony warned that Cyberpunk 2077 did not perform particularly well on the PS4. And, as you’d expect, the PlayStation Store page for the title contains a similar warning, which reads:

“IMPORTANT NOTICE: Users continue to experience performance issues with this game. Purchase for use on PS4 systems is not recommended. For the best Cyberpunk experience on PlayStation, play on PS4 Pro and PS5 systems.”

However, the warning is included in the “Game and Legal Info” section, rather than alongside the purchase button. We’d really have liked to see “Suitable for PlayStation 4 Pro and PlayStation 5 only” in with “1 player” and the other game specifications.

So should you play Cyberpunk 2077 if you have a PS4 Pro or Playstation 5? You can check out our review here. but the short answer is yes, it’s worth a play. But, right now, there’s something else you should consider before making a purchase.

Thanks to Cyberpunk 2077’s issues, the price of physical copies has dropped. You can, in fact, get a used disc copy for less than half the price of the PlayStation Store price so, if you can wait a few days to get a copy posted to you from Amazon, eBay or wherever, or can get to a physical game store you can save yourself a chunk of cash.

So, while Cyberpunk 2077 may be back (for PS5 and PS4 Pro owners), it definitely pays to shop around.
