Everything Announced During E3 Nintendo Direct

The last major show of E3 2021 is upon us, and perhaps the one that many people have been anticipating the most: Nintendo Direct.

Around 40 minutes long, it’s focused entirely on Nintendo Switch software. We got another look at a handful of games we already know about, along with some announcements of existing games coming soon to Switch. We also got a look at some brand new games, and a new glimpse at Breath of the Wild 2.

If you missed the presentation, fear not; we’ve rounded up everything below.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate x Tekken

Kazuya  Mishima is making his way to the game, and he can transform into his devil counterpart. Many of the moves he can perform in Tekken have made it across. More info to come on 28th June.

Astria Ascending

This RPG was first announced some time ago via an ID@Xbox Showcase, but we got another brief glimpse at it today. It’s being developed by Artisan, and is coming soon to Switch.

September 30th

Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania

It’s a remaster of the first three Super Monkey Ball games – well, of sorts. It allows you to roll through the stages of those three games, remixed. If you like Super Monkey Ball, this one’s for you.

October 5th 2021

Mario Party Superstars

A new Mario Party game is coming, bundling up many of the popular games from across the series. It’ll feature online play for the first time, too, so you don’t need all your friends in the same room.

Metroid Dread

A new game in the Metroid franchise. Typical side-scrolling play, lots of freaky enemies to face off against. Climb walls, shoot enemies, destroy huge bosses, level up Samus.

Also get your hands on some Samus and Emmi Amiibo, releasing the same day as the game.

8th October 

Cruis’n Blast

A Nintendo Switch console exclusive – looks to be a mad car-racing game through some bright and bold neon environments.

Coming this autumn

Mario Golf Super Rush

We got another trailer for Mario’s latest golf game, coming later this month. The trailer shows off some of the new game modes, including Golf Adventure. Free updates will also be coming to the game post-launch.

25th June

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin

Another trailer for the upcoming Monster Hunter game, which we got a good look at during Summer Games Fest. This trailer shows off hatching monsters, upgrade armour, and co-op multiplayer quests. There’ll be a free demo from June 25th.

9th July


WarioWare: Get It Together!

Wario is back! A new WarioWare game is coming to Nintendo Switch soon. It promises more minigame mayhem, and two people can play at same time this time. Read more here.

10th September 

Shin Megami Tensei V

Another Tokyo exists, where angels and demons reside. Explore this demon-infected wasteland, and use your new powers to fight them. New action point based battle system. May also be able to negotiate with enemies, however, turning them into allies. Fuse your demon allies to create new demons.

12th November 

Danganronpa Decadence

The trilogy coming to Switch. The in-game board game from Killing Harmony has been expanded into its own game. Can be bought as a collection, or each game will also be available separately

Later this year

Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water

We got a look at an intriguing trailer from this third-person horror game, in which you need to use your camera to combat ghosts. Spoooky.

Later this year

Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope

Here’s another look at Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, first announced during’ Ubisoft’s conference. It didn’t really show us anything new, but here it is again.

Coming 2022

Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp

A bit of a surprise announcement. This bundles up the original game and its sequel, both of which have been reimagined and rebuilt from the ground up. Expect strategy and a gripping story intertwined in one package.

Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity Expansion Pass

Wave 1: Pulse of the Ancients will be out on June 18th. Adds new playable character, the Battle-Tested Guardian. It also adds new weapons and new challenges in the Royal Ancient Lab.

Wave 2: Guardian of Remembrance, is set to release in November. It’ll add character vignettes, new stages, expanded roster and new battle skills for existing characters.

Skyward Sword HD

We got a brief glimpse at Skyward Sword HD, which is due to release next month. The trailer didn’t reveal anything new, but you can remind yourself of what you have to look forward to in a few weeks.

16th July

The Legend of Zelda Game & Watch

Nintendo has specifically said there’ll be no more campaigns or new games coming to Switch to celebrate Zelda’s 35th Anniversary. But we DO get a Legend of Zelda: Game and Watch. It comes with Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, and Links Awakening (Game Boy version), as well as special version of Game & Watch game, Vermin.

November 12th

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2

As expected, we got a brief glimpse at Breath of the Wild 2. It certainly looks like more Breath of the Wild, except maybe more perilous this time around. This time, Link can take to the skies above Hyrule. It’s “expected” for a 2022 release.
