Hot Wheels Unleashed’s new trailer reveals the race-em-up’s fourth environment.
The Skatepark takes place in, as the name would suggest, a skate park, albeit an indoor one. The skaters appear to have taken the day off, so you don’t have have to deal with the race course being disrupted by off-course riders or demolished by the bored two-year old Tony Hawk Jr was supposed to be babysitting.
You will, however, have to tackle other hazards including fans which, while normal sized to most, look like positively giant from the seat of a Hot Wheels car. If you’ve ever been in a car when there’s been a side-wind, think about how that felt, then multiply it by a factor of five. We’re also hoping that, if it’s not an in-game option, some enterprising PC modder will let us crank the fans to stupid levels.
Another cool thing about the Skatepark, is that, watching the trailer, we were able to spot an actual Hot Wheels race set. We’ve stumbled across Hot Wheels Dinosaur tracks in stores and charity shops, but have so far resisted the urge to grab one and spend the entire afternoon making car noises as we race round a plastic T-Rex. It looks like Unleashed’s new level with finally give us the excuse to do just that.
Hot Wheels Unleashed will be released this September 30th, on Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Playstation 4, Playstation 5 PC and Nintendo Switch. You can expect to see more tracks revealed between now and then.
