King of Fighters XV, originally set for a 2021 release, has been delayed until next year.
Spawned from the Fatal Fury series, King of Fighters has, over the years, featured a variety of brawlers as well as some very suspect breast physics. While not technically the fifteenth King of Fighters game, King of Fighters XV is the latest entry in the main series and was, until recently, set to arrive this year.
However, as announced by producer Yasuyuki Oda, the game won’t be here till 2022.
“The development timeline we set out to reach in the beginning has been affected by the ever-still rising cases of COVID-19 within Japan”, reads Oda’s statement. “We have made the ultimate decision in the end that the product’s quality must come first, and so with that decision comes an altered release window.”
KOV XV will still be coming to Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and PlayStation 4 next year, during the first quarter of 2022. It’s certainly not the first title to be delayed due to COVID-19, so fans of the series will have to wait a little longer.
