Heist fans looking forward to the next Payday game from Starbreeze Studios have a bit of a wait on their hands, it would seem.
Popular thanks to its unique co-op based gameplay, the Payday series has won over a legion of fans since its introduction. Payday 2 is the latest entry in the series, first available on PC but then ported to consoles, and while it’s still very popular, it’s getting a bit long in the tooth now.
Needless to say, fans are hungry for a new addition to the series, and they’re going to get one. Eventually.
Payday 3, which will be published under Koch Media’s new label, Prime Matter, will launch on PC and consoles in 2023, it has been confirmed. The game, which will find the crew getting back together once more to pull of some even more insane heists, will cast players as a new member of the PAYDAY gang. Of course, they’re eager to make a name for themselves while raking in the dough. Payday 3 will have a new Hollywood-like setting, too, which should allow for some spectacular scenery and locations. Especially as it’s being built using Unreal Engine 4.
Fun fact, the Payday series turns 10 this year, and that’s how old Payday 2 will be when Payday 3 launches. It’ll no doubt be worth the wait though, offering yet more thrilling co-op gameplay. If you haven’t yet experienced the Payday series’ unique brand of co-op action, why don’t you give Payday 2 a try on PS4, Xbox One or PC? It might be a good way to pass the time until Payday 3 arrives.
