Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart’s Install Size Has Been Revealed

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Are you ready for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart?

We are, sort of. We’re still processing the fact that 2016’s Ratchet and Clank sits alone like someone who’s voided their guts on a busy train and that Rift Apart is in fact a sequel to 2013’s Into the Nexus. But we are happy to learn that Rift Apart will have a measly 34GB download size.

This information comes by way of the PlayStation Game Size Twitter account, so may wish to take it with a pinch of salt but the account has been mostly on the money.  The Playstation Game Size Team also point out that, typically, a game’s install size is about 9GB larger than the download size, so it could occupy up to 43GB.

Not only does that mean that those who’ve purchased it digitally will be able to download quicker than some of the console’s weightier games, Demon’s Souls being almost twice that size, it should occupy less space on your hard drive.

Given that you can’t, currently upgrade your PlayStation 5’s SSD (and when you can it won’t be cheap) the smaller the better. So, if you’re about to flush your PlayStation 5’s SSD in preparation from some pan-dimensional platform hopping, you might want to hold off for now.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will be released for the PlayStation 5 this June 11th.
