The latest game from The Evil Within developer Tango Gameworks, Ghostwire: Tokyo is now slated to release in early 2022.
A statement published on the game’s official Twitter page says Ghostwire: Tokyo has been delayed until early 2022. No solid release date was ever given for the game however, and with little news being shared over the last 12 months, we already felt a 2021 release was very unlikely.
Tango Gameworks’ full statement reads as follows:
We’ve made the decision to delay the launch of Ghostwire: Tokyo to early 2022.
We want to get the game in your hands as soon as possible so you can experience the unforgettable version of a haunted Tokyo that we’ve been hard at work building. At the same time, we’re also focused on protecting the health of everyone at Tango. Our new release window will give us time to bring the world of Ghostwire to life as we’ve always envisioned it.
Thank you for being patient as we work to bring you an experience unlike anything else we’ve ever made. We can’t wait to show you more in the coming months.
Ghostwire: Tokyo was first revealed at E3 2019. It’s an action adventure game set, unsurprisingly, in Tokyo and concerns itself with supernatural matters. You’ll play with an arsenal of tools designed to help you fight off spectral threats as you explore Tokyo’s neon-lit streets.
Despite being a Bethesda game – and Bethesda now being owned by Microsoft – Ghostwire: Tokyo will be coming to PS5 first. It promises to make use of the PS5’s DualSense controller and 3D Audio to create a truly immersive experience. It’ll also be available on PC.
We’re excited to see more about Ghostwire: Tokyo. What we’ve seen so far has us intrigued, and we’re hopeful it’ll be worth the extra wait. Read more about the game here.
