Marvel’s Avengers is Introducing Omega-Level Threats

Marvel's Avengers 1 (1)

Square Enix’s Marvel Avengers is getting new Omega-Level threats, designed to tax players who’ve all but maxed out their level.

Dubbed Omega-Level Threat: Family Reunion, this piece of free DLC can be tackled by groups of four players with a power-level of 145 (though Square Enix recommend 150) and, if completed, will reward those players with high level gear. Teams can tackle Family Reunion as much as they want though they’ll only get gear drops once a week.

In case you’re unfamilar with the Marvel Comic Universe, an Omega-Level threat is a foe, typically a mutant such as Magneto, whose abilities are the top of the recorded power scale (insert “Over 9000” joke here). So which previously-unseen foe will Family Reunion fling at you. The answer, apparently, is… no-one.

Granted, we haven’t played Family Reunion yet but going by the trailer, it’s more and more AIM robots. You can bet if Thanos was going to put in an appearance Square Enix would trumpet about; instead, the most threatening thing in the trailer is a handful of War Machine knock-offs. It looks like, having murdered enough robots to make your way to level 145, your reward is to fight more AIM enemies.

Still, if you want that extra challenge, Omega-Level Threat: Family Reunion is out right now across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Stadia.
