Psychonauts 2’s Accessibility Features Will Include Optional Invincibility

Psychonauts 2’s accessibility features will include an invincibility toggle.

This revelation came as part of developer Double Fine’s Psychonauts 2 accessibility video, which also explained the game would sport colour blind filters, font tweaks, subtitle size options, a feature that dials up your character’s combat strength and more.

But why is an invincibility toggle especially important? For a start, it means that content isn’t walled off. If you have a disability that makes controlling a character tough this ought to allow you to take your own time, without having an enemy divorce your head from your shoulders. It won’t eliminate combat entirely but, combined with the aforementioned combat strength option, it should be a welcome assist.

Psychonauts 2 has been a long time coming. The first game saw your young protagonist, Raz, developing their psychic power while foiling an evil mind-bending plan. It was released in 2005 and the sequel smashed its crowdfunding target in 2016, with a planned 2018 release date. However, after several delays it’s now set to be released on August 25th this year.

Psychonauts 2 will be arriving on Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, PC and Mac.

He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
