The Sims and Diablo may be a very odd pairing to cross over into each other, but that’s exactly the case with the latest Sims 4 expansion, Cottage Living.
You see, The Sims 4: Cottage Living is concerned with giving your sims a country lifestyle. Along with growing your own fruits and vegetables and visiting the weekly village fair, you can raise your own animals. Buy a chicken coop and you can have your own chickens; buy a cow shed and you can have your own cows and llamas.
A big part of Cottage Living is making friends with your animals. You’ll need to treat them well if you want to get good milk, eggs and wool from them. That means giving them treats, petting them, and talking to them. Of course, your animals can’t exactly answer you back, but that doesn’t stop you asking them questions.
One such interaction your sims can have with their pet cow is – wait for it – Question existence of secret cow world.
Obviously, we were immediately intrigued, and straight away asked our cow about the existence of the secret cow world. The first time around, we weren’t close enough to our cow; it brushed off the question and resulted in a negative interaction.
We tried again later, though, and the cow accepted our question. We’re no wiser as to whether the secret cow world does or does not exist however, but we’ll keep asking.
The interaction is of course a nod to the secret cow level, a now infamous part of Diablo II (and also Diablo III – where it’s instead called ‘Not the Cow Level’). In Diablo II, it’s a level that’s accessed by creating a portal and in it, you’ll find a lot of Hell Bovines. We doubt such a world exists in The Sims 4, but it’s a very nice nod to it that made us chuckle.
