Dead Space Remake

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Director Is Directing The Dead Space Remake

Eric Baptizat, director of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will be responsible for directing the upcoming Dead Space remake.

As revealed by VGC, Baptizat stated on his Linkedin account that, after working for Ubisoft for many years he’s now at EA Motive working on Dead Space. Prior to this move, and prior to directing Valhalla, he was the lead designer on several high profile Ubisoft titles including Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Unity and Assassin’s Creed Black Flag.

It remains to be seen whether he’ll be working on a second Dead Space remake; we suspect that’ll depend on the success of the upcoming game, though EA does have a history of canning studios, having shuttered Visceral, the creators of the original game. Visceral are now working on their own space-based survival horror game, the Callisto Project.

There is one connection, however, between the remake and the original series, other than the IP. Mike Yazijian, the art director on the remake, worked for EA Montreal on Dead Space 2. It’s been confirmed that, while there’s no solid release date, the remake will be a full-on reimagining of the game not just a remaster.

You can check out the remake teaser above though you’ll have to wait a little longer for anything more substantial.
