Carrion is Oozing Onto PlayStation 4 Later This Year

Reverse horror Carrion is getting a Playstation 4 release.

As revealed by developers Phobia, Carrion will slither onto Sony’s console later this year. This 2D fleshoidvania casts you as a nightmarish amorphous blob that escapes from an underground laboratory and goes on a murderous people-munching rampage. Essentially, you’re The Blob but with more tentacles.

We reviewed Carrion when it hit PC, Xbox, Mac and Switch last year, awarding it a 7 out of 10. We praised the way it made you the monster, calling it “a real treat for horror fans and one of the most original games I’ve come across”. The one thing we weren’t entirely happy with was the way it loses steam when you hit the last quarter or so of the game. That didn’t stop us from champing at the bit when Devolver Digital posted a picture of Carrion prior to one of their online events, only be let down when a sequel didn’t materialise.

So if you’ve never tackled Carrion, you’ll be in for a treat when it arrives on Sony’s console or rather consoles since backwards compatibility means it’ll be playable on both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. There’s no precise release date as yet, we only know it’s arriving later this year; we’ll let you know when we hear more but in the mean time you can check out the trailer below.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
