Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, aside from spelling “demon” wrong, has a new cinematic trailer that introduces the Grey Knights.
The Grey Knights are the titular daemonhunters, charged with eliminating the forces of chaos in the far, far future of Warhammer 40,000. As the trailer shows, they’re not short on zealotry, prepared to act as their god’s instrument and throw their lives away if need be.
The twist is that, in the Warhammer 40K universe, their “god” is very much a man, the founder of the human empire who’s been hooked up to his life support, the Golden Throne for 10,000 of years. He’s the main reason warp travel is possible and people with psychic powers have to be regularly sacrificed to keep him alive. Which is nice.
Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters won’t expose you to that; instead, this tactical turn-based RPG will have you’ll be dealing with an entirely different group of horrifying foes, some along the lines of the massive beast shown off in the trailer. The Grey Knights are genetically enhanced so you’ll have an edge in some situations but the odds will still be against you.
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters doesn’t yet have a release date, but it’ll be blasting its way onto PC some time in 2022. You can wishlist it on the Steam Store here, though it’ll also be making its way to the Epic Games Store.
Just don’t get us started on the word “vampyre”.
