Rainbow Six Siege is getting a new in-game event inspired by the upcoming Rainbow Six Extraction.
Confused? We don’t blame you. But we suspect the new event, Containment, exists to drum up further interest for Rainbow Six Extraction, which launches in September. That’s no bad thing, though Extraction is set to be more co-operative than Siege.
Rainbow Six Siege’s Containment event starts today and runs until the 24th of August. It will feature a reworked version of the Consulate map, taken over by hostile alien parasites; defenders have to protect the parasite’s nests while attackers have to destroy them which in turn will open their final objective.
The new mode has been dubbed Nest Destruction and it does sound fun, not merely because of the parasite angle because defenders will have to rely mainly on melee attacks, not unlike the Xenomorphs in James Cameron’s Aliens, while attackers have to rely on more conventional firepower.
You can find more about the event here, but even if you don’t own Rainbow Six Siege you’ll be able to dive in as the game will be free between the 13th and 15th of August. We’re assuming that’s across all platforms, PlayStation, Xbox and PC, but we should have more news nearer the time.
In the meantime you can check out the trailer above and tackle Containment later today.
