This list was first published in 2019 and has been updated periodically since.

London is one of the most iconic cities in the world.

From the historic Big Ben and St Paul’s to the buzzing markets and crammed tube, it’s a place that has to be experienced. It’s really no wonder, then, that it’s such a popular setting for a variety of games; so many developers want to feature that beautiful Waterloo sunset in their design.

The streets of London have a unique sound, and those well-trodden city streets hold so much history and many mysteries. London is a collage of many different cultures and communities, and when it comes to video games, it can be whatever a game developer wants it to be. Historic and regal, or grimy and crime-riddled – a video game version of London really can have it all.

Hop on the tube with us to revisit ten of the most iconic games set in London. They’re not chosen based on how good they are, but on how well they showcase the wonderful capital. We’re not going to tell you yet where this line is headed, but we can at least guarantee it’s not Cockfosters…
