Hot Wheels Unleashed is going to have three passes worth of downloadable content!
Yes, we had to think about that for a second too. On the one hand, we’re champing at the bit to get our hands on Hot Wheels Unleashed, based on what we’ve seen so far of the racer. It reminds of nothing so much as a 3D version of Micro Machines, a racer that we put an awful lot of time into when we were younger. So the prospect of more Hot Wheels Unleashed does make us grin.
On the other, if the content has been yanked out of the game to be added back later, that’s not okay. We’re hoping that the three passes worth of DLC are being developed separately from the main game. Whatever the case, you will be able to fork out for extra content, which will include new environments, new track elements, new cars and new customisation items.
It’s the new cars that have really caught our attention; the content plan, revealed by developers Milestone, features cars taken from Street Fighter, Batman and many other franchises. You will be able to purchase these items separately and if one of those cars is the 1989 Batman Batmobile we won’t be able to get our cash out fast enough. Whether it’s worth picking up the game passes, which will group all the DLC into three chunks, is another question entirely.
There will also be free DLC items (some unlocked through challenges) and the full game will also contain some famous cars as standard, so there should still be plenty to do whether or not you go for the paid DLC. There’s not long to wait, either; Hot Wheels Unleashed roars onto PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, Playstation 4 and Playstation 5 this September 30th. The game passes don’t yet have a price but you can find out more at the Hot Wheels Unleashed website.
