Shark Heavy Survival Game Stranded Deep Now Has Online Co-Op Multiplayer

Stranded Deep, the island survival game that began life on PC before making the jump to consoles, now has multiplayer co-op.

We reviewed Stranded Deep back in May of last year and had a lot of fun, calling it a “compelling survival sim”. It casts you as the survivor of an plane crash, stranded on a desert island. The bad news is your island has limited supplies. The good news is you’re in the middle of an archipelago. The even worse news is that there are man-eating sharks between you and the other islands.

You have to juggle handling your own island resources with plundering other islands and becoming as self-sufficent as possible. Now, thanks to an online co-op update that’s now rolled out to PC, Xbox and PlayStation, you can share your survival shenanigans with another human player. The PC has a split-screen mode but unfortunately that’s not made it to consoles, however there’s definitely fun – and arguments – to be had here.

That said, we’re still not 100% comfortable with Stranded Deep’s status as a console game. It’s still in Early Access on PC and yet has been sold as a “proper” PlayStation and Xbox game. We’d be much happier if the kind of Early Access warning you get on Steam was slapped into Stranded Deep’s box and storefront.

Stranded Deep’s co-op multiplayer update is out now across all platforms.
