DOOM Eternal

DOOM Eternal 7 (1)

This game is enhanced for PS4 Pro

Featuring a truly epic campaign and an original multiplayer mode, DOOM Eternal is perhaps the best FPS on PS4 right now. And if you have an PS4 Pro, it looks absolutely amazing.

Making your through expansive levels, you’ll find yourself up against a wide range of demons. You’ll need to figure out their weak spots and capitalise upon them to succeed on higher difficulty levels, and you’ll always want to stay on the move.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (1)

This game is enhanced for PS4 Pro

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series has been rebooted, and if the first entry is a sign of things to come, we’re in for a good time.

While it’s quite short, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare‘s single-player campaign is full of thrills and spills. Then when you’re done with that you can team up with others online and complete a variety of challenging Spec Ops missions, or throw yourself into its traditional competitive multiplayer mode. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare truly has something for everybody.

On PS4 Pro, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is one of the best-looking games available, and it’s no slouch on a standard hardware either. It’s definitely worth adding to your PS4 game collection if you’re a FPS fan. Though be aware: it’ll eat up around 200GB of your valuable hard drive space.

Far Cry 6

Far Cry 6 (2)

This game is enhanced for PS4 Pro

Ubisoft makes brilliant open-world games, and Far Cry 6 is indeed one of them. It’s also an FPS.

Letting you loose on the picturesque tropical island of Yara, Far Cry 6 tasks you with taking down a dictator by the name on Anton Castillo. As a member of Libertad, you’ll have access to wide range of guns, as well as vehicles and numerous buddies. Though those buddies probably aren’t what you expect. You can head into battle alongside a jacket-wearing crocodile, for example, or a sausage dog equipped with wheels. Needless to say, while Far Cry 6 has a serious side, it also wants you to have fun.

And that’s what you’ll do as you rank up, gaining access to yet more tools of destruction. The best of them are known as Supremos and Resolver weapons. There are numerous Supremo backpacks to unlock, each one granting you access to a powerful ultimate attack. Resolver weapons, on the other hand, are outlandish firearms that you can use more liberally. So, if you’re after the best-person shooters on PS4, be sure to give this a go.

Metro Exodus

This game is enhanced for PS4 Pro

With horror and survival elements, Metro Exodus is one of the most tense first-person shooters available on PS4.

More open than its predecessors, Metro Exodus has you travelling through beautiful and atmospheric locales as you unravel a narrative filled with hair-raising situations. While you’ll find yourself battling against fellow humans, it’s the monsters that you encounter on your adventure that really make it stand out though – they’re just as grotesque as ever. Perhaps even more so.

Metro Exodus is a FPS through and through, even if it gives the impression you should to be stealthy for the most part. It looks absolutely gorgeous too, especially on PS4 Pro. Be sure to give it a try if you get the chance.

What do you get if you cross the Avalanche open-world game formula with id combat? Rage 2, that’s what.

It’s worth taking your time and maximising the powers and weapons at your disposal though, because they make combat absolutely exhilarating.

While Rage 2‘s open world was a bit sterile at launch, updates have since made it a little more lively. It has to be said that it looks pretty nice too, and being able to drive around in a heavily armed vehicle is fun. Definitely check Rage 2 out if you’re after the best FPS games on PS4. Shadow Warrior 2

shadow warrior 2 2

Get acquainted with Wang. Once you do, life will never be the same again.

Featuring expansive levels that give you a decent amount of freedom, Shadow Warrior 2 is a fast-paced first-person shooter with plenty of tongue-in-cheek humour. You don’t only get to use guns, either; swords and other melee weapons are available that are great for slicing up enemies when up-close and personal.

Essentially an action-RPG, you can get a hell of a lot of gameplay out of Shadow Warrior 2. It’s just a shame it’s not enhanced for PS4 Pro, as on PC is looks absolutely glorious. Still, if you love FPS games, you should definitely give it a try.

With multiple characters to choose from, each with their own skills and perks, Borderlands 3 is primarily an action RPG. Played from first-person perspective and featuring more guns than you can count, however, it’s also a bloody good first-person shooter.

Playing alone or with friends in co-op, you’ll visit a number of planets as you progress through the game’s story, with plenty of side quests to complete along the way. How much fun you’ll have will depend on the crazy weapons you find though, so loot as much as you can and hope you get something special.
