Jumping into Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy for the first time? Well, you’re probably wondering how long it takes to beat. Here’s what you need to know.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy tells the story of the popular group of spacefaring Marvel misfits. Although the characters may be familiar, this is Square Enix and Eidos Montreál’s own take on the series – it’s a brand new story separate from the comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It remains faithful though, and it means it’s a story that’s engaging whether you’re an existing Guardians fan or new to the franchise. It’s a surprisingly long story, too.
From beginning to end, you can expect to spend around 20 hours making your way through Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s fairly linear, so there’s not much in the way of side-quests or side content – though there is some off-path exploring you can do to uncover some collectibles. But after about 20 hours you’ll see the credits roll, and that’s your time done with your playthrough.
That’s right; you can’t jump back into your game once you’re done. You can use a chapter select if you want to revisit certain sections, and completing the game opens up a new game plus mode, allowing you to start again with certain perks. If you were hoping to jump back in to collect any missed achievements or pick up any new collectibles, you’ll have to do so using the chapter select.
It’s 20-or-so hours well spent though, throwing in a mixture of fantastic story scenes and action-packed gameplay. We were sad when it was over, and will be jumping back into the new game plus very soon.
