We’ve just got the first trailer for the upcoming Resident Evil film and… it looks rather entertaining?
We’re reluctant to say it looks ‘good’, because we always enter into any video game-based movie with a standard amount of caution. But judging by the couple of minutes of action shown in the trailer, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City might well be one hell of a ride. If nothing else, it at least looks very faithful to the series – far more so than the previous films have been.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City takes the series back to its roots. The giant pharmaceutical company Umbrella has left Raccoon City, turning into something of a ghost town. But a wrecked town isn’t all they’ve left behind, it seems, as a terrible evil lurks within the town. We don’t need to tell you the rest: expect lots of hellish creatures, mutants and action-packed shootouts.
It’s written and directed by Johannes Roberts, who has previously directed The Strangers: Prey and Night and 47 Meters Down. It stars Kaya Scodelario as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper as Albert Wesker and Avan Jogia as Leon S. Kennedy.
Give the trailer a watch for yourself below. Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is coming exclusively to cinemas on 3rd December, and – dare we say it – we’re actually quite looking forward to it.
