Shadow Warrior 3 has been delayed and won’t, as originally planned, be showering PC and console players with gore this year.
The first entry in the Shadow Warrior series, itself a reboot of a 1997 game of the same name, was released in 2013. Playing as former assassin Lo Wang it tasks you with slaughtering all manner of oddball and, sometimes, downright gruesome enemies, via the gift of gunplay or hand-to-hand combat.
We reviewed it back in 2015, concluding it was “..a whole heap of fun and quite possibly one of the best first person shooters in years”. We got even more of a kick out of Shadow Warrior 2 and were looking forward to getting our hands on the third entry in the series, eager to discover how developers Flying Wild Hog would take things to the next level.
However, we’re going to have to wait. As revealed in the “Shadow Warrior 3 Official 2022 Delay Trailer”, the game has been delayed till Q1 of next year. Flying Wild Hog have stated they’re going to give Wang’s latest adventure “..a little more polish”.
That could mean that the game is nearly done and they’re just taking a sensible, measured approach to getting it just right. It could also mean that Shadow Warrior 3 is in serious need of an overhaul and employees are crunching like crazy to get it sorted, or anything between those two extremes.
We sincerely hope it leans towards the the former but, whatever the case, Shadow Warrior 3 should slash its way onto PC, Xbox and PlayStation in early 2022. In the meantime, you can wishlist it on Steam and check out 17 minutes of gruesome gameplay.
