The Xbox is Getting a Very Snazzy Special 20th Anniversary Controller and Headset

Xbox 20th Anniversary Controller

Microsoft is commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Xbox by releasing a rather cool controller and headset.

Yes, it’s really been 20 years since the original yak-flattening Xbox arrived, complete with the infamous “Duke” controller which has itself been resurrected as an Xbox One/Xbox Series X|S gamepad. These two new devices aren’t a direct callback to the original Xbox but are instead a celebration of the Xbox series’ staying power.

The controller sports a transparent top-half, as well as green grips which could be a subtle reference to the old-school green dashboard. There’s also a “20” printed on the casing, just in case you need reminding how many years have passed since you first got your hands on the Xbox.

The headset is slightly less striking though, like the controller, it sports a translucent window and has 20 slapped on it. It does also support spatial sound technologies like Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos, and DTS Headphone. We have no doubt they’re both going to sell like hot cakes which raises one obvious question – where do you get them?

Well, you’ll have to wait till November 15th, the date of the original Xbox’s American launch, to actually get your hands on one. Both are priced at $69.99 and, according to Microsoft, you should be able to pre-order them from various online and offline retailers. However, most third party outlets don’t seem to be accepting pre-orders right now, so the best option seems to be to order either or both directly from Microsoft.

Now, if only we could get an Xbox Series S in the shape of a chunky original Xbox..
