5Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Carefully peering into his room, from the hallway, Bond immediately spotted the curtain as it blew gently in the breeze. He knew he’d shut that window earlier. He drew his trusty Walther PPK and crept inside. Suddenly, he saw a shadow appear from behind the door, but it was too late; three bullets fired, point blank, into James’ chest. That was the end of 007.

Now, if only he’d had augmented Rhino Dermal Armour, or even a Sentinel RX Health System, he might still be alive…

Mankind Divided carries on the decades-old Deus Ex tradition of fighting social injustice and inequality while simultaneously battling dangerous double-agents and an elite illuminati. Jensen’s missions, although scaled down from his jaunts in Human Revolution, are scattered about and often involve retrieving sensitive data behind enemy lines. Ultimately, it’s up to you how you get there. You can blast through the front doors; sneak through a conveniently-large air vent; or blag your way past security and hack into their defence systems. Even boss battles can be entirely bypassed by such means.

As Iron Man said to Peter Parker, “If you’re nothing without the suit, then you shouldn’t have it”. But Adam Jensen didn’t ask for this. Although you have to wonder if there’s a single spy out there who would turn down Glass-Shield Cloaking or Smart Vision? We doubt it. Thanks to all of the high-tech gadgets at your disposal here, Deux Ex: Mankind Divided earns its place on our list of best spy games on PS4.
