Cheat codes have been a big part of previous Age of Empires games, but does Age of Empires IV have any?
In Age of Empires II and III, cheat codes could be used to do things like grant yourself infinite resources, reveal the map or instantly kill everyone. Not the most noble way to play, granted, but if you’re simply enjoying the game by yourself, there’s nothing wrong with a few shortcuts. However, the latest game in the series, Age of Empires IV, does not support any cheat codes. Yet.
That’s right: Age of Empires IV doesn’t support cheats. But that doesn’t mean they won’t be coming in the future. In an article published on Xbox Wire on 17th November, the Age of Empires team stated they were “exploring what [cheats] would look like in Age of Empires IV“.
In other words, cheat codes could be something that get added to Age of Empires IV in an update further down the line. There’s some speculation that we can expect them to arrive in early 2022, but we’ll have to see.
In the meantime, both Age of Empires II and III Definitive Editions support cheat codes, so you can enjoy playing God in those games.
