This November, Spider-Man is finally swinging his way onto Marvel’s Avengers, as long as you own the PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5 version, that is.
He’s certainly taken his time arriving; the web slinger’s PlayStation exclusivity was announced over a year ago. Xbox and PC players were, understandably, less than happy about this arrangement not least because it meant were forking out the same amount of money and getting less for their cash.
Now he’s here and.. does anyone care? We got a real kick out of Marvel’s Avengers when we reviewed it last year, but a year is a long time in gaming. PlayStation owners have the magnificent Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, which we gave a phenomenal 10/10 to, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is already in the works.
The one aspect of Marvel’s Avengers that has caught our eye is that Square Enix have apparently chosen to blame developers Crystal Dynamics for it not being as successful as they would have liked. Because it was definitely Crystal Dynamics that was the problem, not Square’s decision to make it a Games as a Service model.
Still, if you’re a PlayStation owner who’s still diving into Marvel’s Avengers, as of the next big patch you’ll be able to play as Spider-Man. He’ll sport a story of sorts but, from what we know, it appears it won’t be full-blown story DLC like Black Panther’s. The patch will also raise the max power level and add a new 4 player raid.
Will Spidey’s arrival have been worth waiting for? You can find out when Marvel’s Avengers’ patch arrives, this November 30th, exclusive to PlayStation.
