While we weren’t too impressed with Wales Interactive’s Maid of Sker when it launched on PS4, Xbox One and PC last year, there were elements of it that showed a lot of promise.

Wales Interactive has stood by the title, too, improving it since launch and launching an enhanced edition for next-gen consoles. It still didn’t blow our socks off when we played it on PS5, but we did enjoy the new challenge mode that was added. With the main game devoid of combat, it was refreshing to be let loose with weapons such as an axe and shotgun, aiming to escape Sker hotel under a variety of conditions.

On the back of that, Wales Interactive has announced a spiritual successor to Maid of Sker. Planned to launch Q2 2022 on PC, Sker Ritual is described as a co-op survival FPS. So, you can expect to have to hold your own against hordes of grotesque enemies, though the finer details are still under wraps. The few screenshots that have been released, however, show some familiar locations and enemies.

If you’re a fan of Maid of Sker and don’t like the idea of having to play Sker Ritual with others, don’t fret; while it supports up to four players, it appears that you can also play it solo. And while a launch window has only been revealed for the PC version so far, it’s also planned to launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

You can check out the announcement trailer for Sker Ritual below. It’s brief, but gives an idea of what to expect. It certainly seems like it’s going to throw a decent number of enemies at players, and it looks pretty nice too. We’re certainly looking forward to going hands-on with it.
