Twelve Minutes, having debuted on PC and Xbox, is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
This top-down, time-looping game casts you as a man who’s reliving the same day over and over again. But unlike Bill Murray, he doesn’t get to stuff his face at the local diner. Instead, a cop (played by Willem Dafoe) arrives at the apartment and accuses his wife of murder. How you handle the situation is largely up to you, but with your character’s memories carrying between each loop, you’ve got plenty of opportunities to put things “right”.
Twelve Minutes arrives on PlayStation 4, 5 and Switch this December, after a brief period of Xbox exclusivity. There won’t be any significant changes which is a bit of a shame since, as we noted in our review, being able to rewind time, Forza Horizon 5 style, would make the later loops a little less onerous.
But as a mystery, Twelve Minutes is well worth unravelling. Willem Dafoe is as entertaining as he always is in pretty much any movie; James McAvoy and Daisy Ridley as the man and his wife are on form, though you’d be hard pressed to tell it was them. We’re not entirely on board with one of the game’s three endings, the “true” ending, but we’ll leave you to discover exactly why it winds us up. We also would have called it Groundhog Die, but that’s just us.
You can explore Twelve Minutes’ looping nightmare when it arrives on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch this December 7th.
