For the first time ever, the campaign of Halo Infinite has been balanced around its “Normal” difficulty level.
Like Halo games before it, the campaign of Halo Infinite has four difficulty levels for players to choose from – Easy, Normal, Heroic and Legendary. With previous games balanced around Heroic difficulty, many players might jump into Halo Infinite on that setting and find themselves struggling a little. Some might even jump in on Legendary difficulty, the maniacs.
The good news is, if you do start playing the campaign of Halo Infinite and find the difficulty too easy or hard, you can change it. All you have to do is quit your current game, then, on the main menu, select Load Game rather than Continue. On the next screen, you’re then able to change the difficulty before continuing your game. You can also apply any skulls you’ve found there, too.
There’s just one thing to bear in mind when it comes to changing the difficulty – Halo Infinite has difficulty-related trophies. So, if you want to get the trophy for completing the game on Heroic, for example, make sure to never change the difficulty below Heroic or you’ll be blocked from getting it. It’s something made more troubling by the fact that you can’t replay missions just yet.
