The Tomb Raider Trilogy is Free on the Epic Games Store

Tomb Raider Trilogy Free

Epic have given away a fair few free games, through Epic Games Store. But the latest freebie, the PC version of the rebooted Tomb Raider trilogy, is a real treat.

It’s also unexpectedly generous, since it contains Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider and all the DLC for those games. Starting with 2013’s Tomb Raider, the trilogy rebooted Tomb Raider though, depending on how you interpret the final game, it could also be viewed as a prequel.

One of the major differences is that the games, Tomb Raider especially, really put protagonist Lara Croft through the wringer. In the original series, Lara had three basic states of being – absolutely fine, blood spurting from her ankles or dead. The new trilogy delivers so much damage, that it’s a miracle she’s not in a coma by the end of it.

On top of that, there’s a lot more murdering people and lot less murdering animals. The three new games are from Crystal Dynamics and the first two were penned by writer Rihanna Pratchett, though she wasn’t involved in the final entry. We didn’t review the first title as it was pre-GameSpew but we gave Rise and Shadow a 9 and 10 respectively, so they’re definitely worth having.

You will need an Epic Games Store account to nab these, at which point they’re yours to keep. You can claim them through the Epic Games Store Launcher or via the web, up until July 6th. You will need to click and redeem each separately but, even if your gaming backlog’s a mile long, for the grand total of zero pounds and zero pence, you’ve nothing to lose.

Weekend Editor // Chris has been gaming since the days of the Acorn Electron, which was allegedly purchased to 'help him with his homework'. You can probably guess how well that went. He’ll tackle most genres – football titles aside – though he has a taste for games that that are post-apocalyptic, horror-oriented or thought provoking in nature.
