Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Has Arrived on Xbox and Xbox Game Pass

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc

Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc.. on Xbox? No, we’re not making this up, the first entry in the Danganronpa series has arrived on Microsoft’s console.

The Danganronpa games have, traditionally, debuted on the PlayStation, with the first two titles in the visual novel trilogy being released on the now defunct PlayStation Portable. They eventually made their way to the PC, via the Steam Store, and more recently the Nintendo Switch, but the Xbox remained Danganronpa-free.

That’s changed with the surprise announcement that, as of right now, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc Anniversary Edition is available on Xbox. And, aside from purchasing it outright, it’s also joined Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass. Yes, the PC incarnation was already out on Steam but this PC version has also now been added to the Microsoft Store.

Which begs the question.. should you get it? In a word, yes. You can check out our list of reasons why you should dive in here, though, be warned, it’s not nearly as cutesy as its neon-tinged anime-aesthetic would have you believe. If you’re averse to a spot of gore, you might want to think twice.

The secret love-child of Grange Hill, Battle Royale and Ace AttorneyDanganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc sees you and several other oddball characters trapped in a strange school, ruled over the by the sinister Monokuma, a murderous teddy-bear. To survive, characters have to get away with murder and it’s your job to ferret out the guilty party through a classroom trial. Be warned, the punishment scenes are lovingly animated and stomach-churningly gruesome.

As of right now, only the first title in the series is available though we wouldn’t be surprised if the following two titles (and at least one of the spin-offs) make it to Xbox. As for Danganronpa 4? There’s no news yet, and the last entry in the series seemed pretty final, but we’re always up for more Monokuma.
