Games to Watch Out for in January 2022

Happy New Year, everyone!

As is often the case, January looks to be a fairly quiet month for new releases. It’s a good month for PC gamers, with Monster Hunter Rise and God of War finally getting PC releases in the first half of the month. And of course, Nintendo Switch gamers have something to look forward to at the end of the month, with Pokémon Legends: Arceus set to release.

We’ve rounded up the games you ought to have on your radar this month. And of course, keep visiting us throughout January as we’ll be highlighting more games, reviewing the latest releases and sharing news of what’s to come throughout the year.

Here’s to an excellent 2022. *Raises glass*

Monster Hunter Rise

Monster Hunter Rise

  • Release date: 12th January
  • Formats: PC

Monster Hunter Rise was a Switch exclusive when it launched last year. It’s finally coming to PC, allowing those who don’t have a Nintendo console to enjoy it. We can expect better visuals, higher resolutions, and various performance optimisations. Other than that, though, this is the same game – and since it was so excellently received, that’s a very good thing.

The Anacrusis

The Anacrusis

  • Release date: 13th January
  • Formats: Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC

Are you up for some multiplayer co-operative action? The Anacrusis is a stylish shooter set aboard a retro-futuristic starship. By teaming up with your friends, you’ll need to join the fight against hordes of aliens, unlocking new weapons and perks as you go.

God of War

  • Release date: 14th January
  • Formats: PC

2018’s God of War needs no introduction. Kratos and Atreus’ adventure remains one of the best PlayStation exclusive games of recent years. And finally, PC players will be able to get in on the action. You can expect improved visuals, a wealth of performance options and more. We’ll have more about the PC port of God of War later this month.

Rainbow Six Extraction

Rainbow Six Extraction

  • Release date: 20th January
  • Formats: PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, PC, Stadia

It’s time for the long-running Rainbow Six Siege to get a successor. Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction promises “the ultimate tactical co-op experience”; players can choose from 18 R6 operators and set out to explore one of 12 maps based on locations from across the United States of America. You’ll need to work together with your teammates to overcome growing threats, clear out containment zones and, hopefully, survive. We’re looking forward to diving in.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection

Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection (1)

  • Release date: 28th January
  • Formats: PS5

Okay, so this isn’t a new game per se, but we’re looking forward to it nonetheless. Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection brings Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy to PS5 natively. That means players can enjoy Nathan Drake’s final adventure and Chloe’s breakout story with better visuals and improved performance. You can look forward to being able to choose between Fidelity and Performance modes, the latter of which can target up to 120fps for players with a compatible display.

The best news is that if you own either Uncharted 4 or The Lost Legacy, you can upgrade to the PS5 bundle for just $10 or your local equivalent.

Pokémon Legends: Arceus

Pokémon: Legens Arceus

  • Release date: 28th January
  • Formats: Switch

A brand new entry is making its way to the Pokémon franchise. Pokémon Legends: Arceus looks to be the series’ answer to Breath of the Wild; it re-imagines the Pokémon adventure somewhat, providing players with a new art style and a huge, expansive world to explore. This is still Pokémon, though, so that means catching wild monsters with Poké Balls and training with them. We can’t wait to find out more about Arceus, and it’s undoubtedly a game that should be on any Pokémon fan’s radar.
