Gran Turismo 7’s New Gameplay Video Showcases Daytona International Speedway

Gran Turismo 7 Speedway

Fancy driving round and round and round till you’re dizzy? Gran Turismo 7 will have you covered as its latest gameplay trailer reveals.

The trailer features first-person footage of Daytona International Speedway, one of the upcoming title’s many tracks. While it’s not exactly an oval, there’s a notable lack of sharp corners which should let you concentrate on overtaking other drivers. Apparently, for some bizarre reason, you’re not allowed to ram them off the road.

And you know what? It looks absolutely gorgeous in action. With its launch date less than a two months away, we’re definitely looking forwards to getting our hands on this realistic racer. The trailer footage is from a PlayStation 5 so it won’t look quite as pretty on a PlayStation 4 or a non-4K TV, but it’s still a big step up from Days of Thunder on the Amiga.

Aside from sporting an in-car perspective, the trailer also shows off Gran Turismo 7’s external camera views, which give the impression that you’re watching the event being broadcast on TV. We’d pay good money for a mode that lets you set the cars on auto-pilot and sit, first-person. in a seat, stuffing popcorn into your face, but we’re not convinced Gran Turismo 7 will deliver on that front.

If you’re wondering why Sony has chosen to show off Daytona International Speedway, it’s not just some random track. It’s home to the Daytona 500, one of the most prestigious Nascar events, which sees drivers looping the track a ridiculous 200 times, equivalent to 500 miles. The trailer doesn’t reveal whether you’ll be able to race for the 4+ hours the actual Daytona 500 takes, but we’ll be stockpiling popcorn just in case.

Gran Turismo 7 will race onto PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 this March 4th.
