Not For Broadcast’s final chapter, arriving later this month, looks set to veer between humorous and harrowing.
No, we’ve not got our hands on the concluding third episode, but based on the previous two chunks, this FMV adventure’s conclusion could be an uncomfortable experience. Not For Broadcast manages to blend straight up comedy with some impressively dark satire, to the point where we’re almost afraid to dive into its conclusion.
Not For Broadcast’s first episode arrived in March 2020, which is when the title entered Steam Early Access. It casts you as a harried broadcast operator, charged with ensuring that the nightly news goes without a hitch. At least, that’s how things start out – aside from having to deal with technical issues, you’re eventually asked to censor what’s going out, and more.
You can read our impressions of the first and second episodes, as well an interview with developers NotGames about the challenges of developing an FMV game under lockdown. We don’t want to spoil things too much, but the final episode’s stakes are set to be pretty high, so we’re looking forwards to seeing how Not For Broadcast ties things up, and experiencing the consequences of our actions.
Not For Broadcast lands on the PC this January 25th, via the Steam Store and Epic Games Store.
