Shadow Warrior 3’s latest trailer features gore, wisecracks, monster murder and.. well, what more could you want?
Let’s face it, the Shadow Warrior series knows its audience and this third entry in the rebooted franchise, from developer Flying Wild Hog and publisher Devolver Digital, looks set to deliver bucket after bucket of bloody FPS mayhem. This pre-launch trailer makes Doom Eternal look positively restrained, with protagonist Lo Wang having the time of his life slaughtering mythical monster after mythical monster.
The absolute highlight of the trailer has to be the moment when Wang lifts the lid off a pot-creature’s head, revealing what passes for brain matter. He then tosses a grenade in and slams the lid shut, to explosive effect. We won’t spoil the rest of the trailer, which is ridiculous in the best way possible, but if you don’t chuckle at least once you should check you still have a pulse.
One thing that has changed for Shadow Warrior 3 is that the asian lead characters are now voiced by asian voice-actors whereas that wasn’t the case for Shadow Warrior and Shadow Warrior 2. Mike Moh, voicing Lo Wang, is the only actor you can hear in this trailer but he makes it sound like Wang is having an absolute whale of a time.
Shadow Warrior 3 launches this March 1st, landing on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It’s set to retail for $49.99 (or thereabouts) though PlayStation Now subscribers will get to play it for free on the day of launch.
